Academics
St. Louis Catholic High School students are academically prepared for college, their careers and their future. Our curriculum at St. Louis is both challenging and customizable for each student’s needs. Students who seek a high-level program may thrive in one of our many Honors, Advanced Placement or Dual Enrollment courses. As with everything we do at St. Louis, our students’ academic experience is rooted in our Catholic faith. Theology is part of every student’s curriculum, and our faculty inspire confidence and promote educational excellence and spiritual growth.

Diplomas
St. Louis offers the TOPS University Diploma requirements. All students must complete at least 30 credits with a grade of C or higher in order to graduate from St. Louis Catholic High School.
Dual Enrollment
St. Louis Catholic High School offers 14 dual enrollment courses in eight subjects, with college credits earned through McNeese State University. Credits are transferable to other institutions as outlined by the Louisiana Board of Regents.
Advanced Placement
In addition to dual enrollment, St. Louis Catholic High School offers a number of Advanced Placement classes, for which students may test for college credit at the end of each school year. AP classes are available beginning in the sophomore year.
Honors Classes
St. Louis Catholic High School honors classes provide students with more rigorous coursework in order to properly challenge those who thrive in key subjects.
Life Skills and Career Coursework
St. Louis students have the opportunity to participate in a number of classes outside a traditional curriculum that will provide them with the skills they need to ensure every graduate will excel spiritually, socially and professionally.
Technology
In 2012, St. Louis Catholic High School was the first to launch a 1:1 program, which provided every student with a Microsoft tablet for note-taking, class collaboration, digital organization, online research and multimedia projects. Nearly 20 St. Louis teachers have now become Certified Microsoft Innovative Educators (MIE), and four were accepted into the Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert program. For these accomplishments, St. Louis is a designated Microsoft School.
Counseling Department
The mission of our school counseling program at St. Louis Catholic High School is to provide equity of services and access to success through high quality personal/social attendance, academic growth, and career/preparation of college planning needs. Through the counselors’ commitments of remaining with students throughout their high school career and through the counselors’ unconditional positive regard, group and individual academic planning meetings are held to empower students to overcome challenges, review graduation plans and prepare for future goals. St. Louis Catholic High School counselors promote a commitment to lifelong learning, personal and academic growth, and success in becoming culturally aware, responsible, and productive members of society.

Scheduling
Honors Distinction
Honor classes at St. Louis Catholic High School are designed to further challenge students who excel in certain areas. The honors curriculum is fully customizable. Please refer to the SLCHS Course Planning Guide for a list of all classes offered.
Note, grade point averages are NOT rounded, and students will NOT be ranked. Graduates seeking the Honors Distinction will be honored according to their GPA. Any course in which a student earns a “P” (pass) will not affect in any way a student’s GPA.
Requirements:
- Minimum 8 Semesters Cumulative GPA: 3.75
- 7 Honors/AP/DE course credits from any subject area
- 3 years of the same World Language (Foreign Language)
Honors Distinction Graduates will be recognized as follows:
- The Honors Distinction will be awarded to those students with a minimum overall grade point average of 3.75 who have met the curriculum requirements with a minimum of eight Honors/Advanced Placement/Dual Enrollment courses.
- Summa Cum Laude: 4.00 or higher GPA
- One graduate from this group will deliver the valedictory address at graduation and shall be chosen from among his/her fellow honorees of this level by secret ballot.
- A qualifying transfer student will not be eligible to give the Commencement Address at the graduation ceremony.
- If there is a tie after secret ballots are cast, the tie will be broken by: highest grade point average; the total number of Honors, AP, and DE courses; the total number of AP courses.
- Magna Cum Laude: 3.85 -3.99 GPA
- Cum Laude: 3.75 – 3.84 GPA
Dual Enrollment
Our dual enrollment program allows students to enroll in a course for high school and college credit. St. Louis Catholic High School offers dual enrollment courses with college credits earned through McNeese State University. To apply to take dual enrollment courses, students must have ALL the following:
- Minimum GPA of 3.00
- Composite ACT score of 19
- English ACT score of 18
- Math ACT score of 19**
***Students with a math ACT of 19 and 20 will be placed in Math 110/113, and students with a math ACT of 21 will go straight into Math 113.**
Mental Health Resources
The Kay Doré Counseling Clinic is a low-cost counseling clinic that serves the SWLA community. All counseling services are provided for a flat rate of $20 per session. The clinic offers individual one-on-one counseling, couples counseling, family counseling and group counseling.
